I'll offer some books which are not very popular but nonetheless truly GREAT.

Common Sense / Age of Reason, Thomas Paine.

Bryan's Last Speech - William Jennings Bryan prepared for the Scope's Trial

How We Invented the Airplane - Orville Wright

Ascent of Man, Jacob Bronowski.

If you prefer fiction, To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee. If you only saw the movie, and if you like to read, this is an amazingly great book.

I love the book The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare. I read it for the first time in second grade and have read it over many times since. I covered my original copy in packaging tape because it was falling apart and am considering that it may be time to pick up a new copy before the next time through.

I've read several "best" books (from different genres)...Right now, I can recall "Master of the Game" (Sidney Sheldon) as a favorite; "Waiting to Exhale" (Terry McMillan); "The Fountainhead" (Ayn Rand); "It's All About the Moon when the Sun Ain't Shining" (Ernest Hill); ..."Satisfied with Nothing" (Ernest Hill); The Tao of Relationships (Ray Grigg)

A piece of cake by Cupcake Brown.
I think everyone should read this book. Here is a girl who had everything going against her since she was 12 years old...She went thru some really really bad times but eventually pulled herself together & is now a lawyer & a public speaker. I have never been so proud of a person I had never met than when I read her story. It will make you angry at her stupidity, sad for her struggles & losses & proud of her accomplishments.

When I was a kid I read The Outsiders at least 50 times.

But now there are so many I can't pick one.
