the Nanny government in the UK.

Latest tin-pot idea is to ban the sale of 150 W ordinary bulbs from next January, then ban 100 w bulbs the year after - and then finally a total ban on all normal bulbs.

So tough if you have a problem with flourescent flicker, tough if you don't like the horrible pinky white glow from them, tough if you want to use a dimmer switch.

Now have to buy a couple of hundred 150W, 100W, 60W and 40W bulbs (only pennies each) so I am unaffected by the stupidity of it all.

Of course none of the environmental folks seem to worry about mercury in the high effiency lamps, nor the carcinogenic compounds in the phosphor. Nor the VAST amount of power used to manufacture a hi-efficient lamp in the fiurst place - refining mercury isn't a simple and cheap process, nor is the process of making the other hi purity products required - silicon, rare earth powder for the phosphor.

Of course that hasn't REALLY been though about too much.

So yes, Nanny UK is on the go again - banning light bulbs! Don't expect to be allowed to run your patio heaters for much longer, Nanny certainly won't approve of that.

Mark - sadly learning to hate his own country - or at least the pillocks in charge of it :(

Too many things to say here. But bad manners and people who drive recklessly or with their bass up enough to rattle my house windows are probably my biggest pet peeves (reckless driving: cutting people off and driving while using a cell phone).

#1) People
#2) The laws of the universe. EG: Bad things always suck and good things become boring after time.

I was talking with a person for five minutes, he was nodding his head and then I learnt that he was not listening to me at all. He was occupied with the football game.

condescending and arrogant people who just have the need to share their "elevated" view on politics and ideals, living their life like a competition against the rest of us.
