My wife is giving birth, but I'm a little busy...?

I enrolled in a major online poker tournament this morning, and I was doing pretty well. About 4 hours into the tourney, my wife went into labor. I tried to explain to her that I was playing for alot of money, and asked if she could wait for an hour or two (after all, it takes about 10 hours, right?) but she insisted that we go to the hospital NOW. I had my brother drive her and told them I would meet them there as soon as I was finished.

Well, I busted out of that tournament and started up a new one. I'm playing it right now and I'm at the final table. My brother called me a few minutes ago and told me that the baby is coming soon and that I better get down there. But there is thousands of dollars at stake! That baby isn't going anywhere... we have our entire lives ahead of us. Is it really necessary for me to drop everything just to watch the little guy squeeze out of my wife's vagina?

Thats cold, but hey, you are right. But it would probably be a looooong time before she forgave you. I consider myself a cold person and i dont think even I could do that.

Unbelievable...i can tell you this as someone who plays online poker and a father of five...you have a problem with gambling...babies don't just wait till the time suits you...your ten hours theory is nonsense and i suggest you get a little better informed...why did you start the second tourny when you knew your wife was in labour...i really think you need to take a long hard look at yourself and the power the online poker has over you...incase you don't know women do die giving birth...how do you think you would feel if she had died and you were not there because you had entered a poker tourny...

You should have love for your baby and your wife before ANYTHING ELSE. Including your poker game. In other words, you're being very selfish.

Does she know you had a gambling addition? Think about it... if you can't be there for her now, during the BIRTH of your OWN CHILD, what else will you miss because you don't think it's important and "there will always be a next time"? Baseball games? Birthday parties? Dance recitals? If they were in a burning building, would you get them out, or stand on the sidewalk and watch?

Dude, your attitude is just wrong. You could win $1 mill, but it won't replace what you missed. Money doesn't buy everything. Your kid will hate you. I'm sure you've seen the movies, maybe you ever were one of these kids and grew up into this. ::shudders::

And if you're kidding... I would buy you a drink for thinking of something so controversial on a Thursday morning. ;-)

OK your an jerk and have no care for your wife or family in general.....your brother on the other hand cares about your family more than you do which is sad. If you were in one and finished it would be different but you started another one why the hell would you do that?? Obviously it's because you don't care about her or your family. A husband should be there for his wife during this difficult hard beautiful time in both your lives. I think personally you should save your wife some more heart ache and just leave her now pack your things and leave her because obviously you don't care. If you did then you would have been there from the start and definitely not have started another tourney and obviously you have a gambling problem so get help !!!!! Don't be suprised if your wife does not leave you she should because you obviously don't care.

i really hope this is a joke, because if its not, i have no idea why your wife would want to be with you in the first place. there is NO WAY in hell it is okay for you to play online poker instead of take your wife to the hospital for the birth of your CHILD. its something that you are supposed to do together...i dont think you are good enough to be married to someone...she obviously didnt know what she was getting herself into when she said yes to marrying you. you sound like a total prick to me. i do hope that your wife and your child are healthy and i hope she gives you either a good slap on the back of the head or a knee to your crotch. WAKE UP, you're a parent now...

Is this a joke because if not then you are out of your mind for not being there. If you picked a poker tourn over being with your wife at your childs birth I would tell you to take a hike. Labor is not fun for her how dare you leave her to play a game

This woman is having your baby,went through 9 months of caring and will go through the labor of having it,the single most important moment of your's and your wife's life,and your saying poker is more important to you than your wife and child. How would you feel if your the one who will be delivering your baby and your wife isn't there at the most important part of your life?
Delivering a baby is not easy, it's like cutting your body into half and the least you can do for your wife is to be there and support her.......
