WOW! I am in complete disgust... Supposedly, Tania Head of NY made up a story about being in the towers on 9/11. She has a made up engagemnet with a man who died in the other tower, told stories of people she encountered while in the towers: tp their fammilies. SHe has travelled and spoke at many schools and universities. But NONE of her story lines up. They have no record of her being an employee like she claims, her college (She went to Harvard and Yale according to the tale) has NO records! WOW, I cannot believe that someone could be so heartless to create such a thoughtless tale. Has anyone else heard about the story? What are your thoughts? How will her pumishment work out if she is found guilty and what would she be charged with?

It is on the cover of NY Times: todays paper! Read it!

OK a white lie.... telling a man's parents that she was the last person he talked to... making up a story to tell them, taht he fought to kepp her alive.? These parents thought they knew how there son had died, but yet now after six years they find out differently. I don't consider it a white lie... And she was a president of a nonprofit organization that employs only people who were directly affected by 9/11.. and she made a career out of it?! Used this for money, pity, and fame? How can life be that bad to where you think you have it as bad as those who were actually in 9/11? Honestly, it makes me sick to think that she profited from this. A true sick person trying to "play" a hero!

It's terrible what she did, to play with people's emotions like that, especially of the family of the man who died saving other people for real. I'm sure the family wanted as accurate portrayal as possible of how he spent his final moments. So lying to them like that is cruel and inexcusable. Part of me feels sorry for her, because her life must have been very, very sad and lonely to have to live a false story in order to find any kind of relevance or inclusion. She didn't do it for any financial gain, so she must have had a real emotional need to feel important and wanted and a purpose to her life. It doesn't excuse what she did at all, but the pain of being sad, alone, and that you don't matter to anyone can drive people to do crazy things, because the way they finally get to feel is so intoxicating. I do feel sorry for anyone that lonely that they would resort to that type of deceitful behavior to feel good inside. She is not an attractive woman. Living a fantasy life with a fantasy fiance was probably less painful than living her real life with no fiance or anyone ever loving her. Still, the emotional wounds this must be opening with the real rescuer's family who she has met and posed with, is just terrible and that is not okay.

I hate to sound harsh, but a woman who looks like Tania Head would not have a job at Merrill Lynch, and would not be engaged to a professional man as she stated. How dare this 300 lb gargoyle make a mockery of 9/11 for her personal gain. PIG!!!

I know Tania. It appears she lied to all of us and we trusted and believed her. i thought of her as my inspiration of how to pull myslef up out of my post 9/11 misery and how to go on living and giving... Despite the lies she told, she did a lot of good and inspired many. We need to try to keep that feeling of hope alive that she gave many of us and not focus so much on being angry.

Of course it is easier said than done, but i find i pity her more than am angered by her. What terrible trauma must she have endured earlier in her live that attaching it to 9/11 was the best way she could find to cope? I have to believe that was her motivation... she was not in it for the money (she has made ZERO from 9/11), perhaps for attention, but she must have convinced herself that her story was true in order to fool so many close to her for years...

This is another story of a lonely desperate soul who seeks attention. Under most circumstances we would feel sorry for a person like Ms. Head. But when it comes to 9/11, she has trampled hallowed ground. Using 9/11 for attention is not a criminal offense, its a humanity issue.

Disgusted? I think it might be more appropriate to save disgust for the truly awful things that are happening in this country. This woman didn't profit financially, and there are no indications she even attempted to. She made up a story, which lots of people do everyday, albeit an elaborate story. The only reason this womans story is any different is the lie she made up happened to be about something close to many of our hearts. No one has claimed she had any malicious intentions. She was clearly misguided, but I don't believe she wanted or intended to harm anyone. It was a cry for attention, nothing more. In order to be charged with and convicted of a crime, damages have to occur. I would be interested what the state would claim as a damage. Confusion, head scratching, sure...but wasting judicial resources on something like this would be an outrage. I think NYC has bigger things to worry about, as does the rest of the nation.

Why would she make it up? I dont understand? Plus it took everyone how long to figure out she was lying about her job, background, etc? 9/11 happened along time ago. She was giving people tours for no money and was a BURNED survivor herself. This all doesn't add up either. How can a person be allowed to give tours on such a huge project looked over by government officials without receiving a full on background check. People cant even get regular jobs without a background check. Think about it!

This is an age old story of a nobody who wanted to be a somebody. How many years did this complete waste of space hang on to her story? These types of people make me ill.

Have you seen her? Good lord, somebody keep that bucket of KFC away from that fat cowpie. The ONLY way she could have gotten down the stairs that fast? That's right, chasing a bucket of fried chicken! She disgusts me!

When she is charged for fraud, will she claim insanity? That's a big, fat YES! She'll say she was sooooo depressed because her life was soooo meaningless and then she'll play the fat, abused-when-she-was-a-child card. Hey! Dr. Phil! Here's another one for your program, you greedy, power-hungry ****!

Hopefully she gets charged with fraud or she is sued for fraud. What a lying piece of ****!

Some of you are artards. What does this story have to do with Bush or neo-conservatives? Oh right all the world's problems are due to any and every right wing/republican. Back to this lady's story. Fiance's family denies her existence and his roommate. Her work denies her employment. Her colleges denies her enrollment. No witness that can easily verify part of her story has come forward. But come on the first clue would be how did this obese woman get down 78 flights of stairs? Caveat Emptor!

I don't know why people believed her I can tell my looking at her she was not in the World Trade center during the attacks. I mean if you see a picture of her she looks like she weighs 350 pounds. I can't imagine a big fat lard like her being able to walk down 78 floors. I work out 5 times a week and can't imagine being able to walk down that many floors. Just a thought.

i can't believe someone would do such a thing. why would you claim you were there when you weren't. That's incredibly selfish to the people who really did survive it. She wanted the notority that comes with such a tragedy. i understand as president of the organization she probably did help a lot of people cope, but it was all based on a lie. she could have found a million ways to offer help, hope and support for these people without LYING.

but she probably wont be charged with anything as she did not recieve payment for her role as president and as not claimed any money from the government support fund.

i feel bad for the family of the guy who she claimed was her fiancee/boyfriend.
