Last I heard it wasn't against the law to wear whatever you wanted to your wedding. Personally, I could care less. Should guys wear white only if they are a virgin? Should we make up a color code for wedding couples, pink for tried-it-but-can-live-without-it, red for did-it-but-it-was-just-ok, and purple for can't-get-enough?

Come on - these days - like .01 percent or something of the population is a virgin at the time of marriage. That's not a good thing - but that's the reality - why destroy the beauty of using a white dress because you're not a virgin? Times have changed. If only virgins wore white - then what would the guys do different? Wear jeans? Come on now - if throughout the history of time men had to dress different in a wedding because they were not a virgin - we'd have some very different wedding photos now wouldn't we? The bottom line is - it's none of anyone's business about the past except for the bride and groom and that's between them and God.

Because it has NOTHING to do with that. Wearing white started to show how wealthy the girl's parents were. If she wore a white dress, which gets dirty very easily and is easily ruined, they woere showing that they could afford to buy a dress that could only be worn once. With 1/3 of women being already pregnant in the year 1703 at the time of marriage, there was no "golden age of virginity". (Source, "1700", a book filled with stats and data from London in the year 1700)

Because the color of one's wedding dress has absolutely NOTHING to do with the state of one's sexual experience.
White did not become a popular option until 1840, after the marriage of Queen Victoria to Albert of Saxe-Coburg. Victoria had worn a white gown for the event so as to incorporate some lace she owned. The official wedding portrait photograph was widely published, and many other brides opted for a similar dress in honor of the Queen's choice. The tradition continues today in the form of a white wedding, though prior to the Victorian era a bride was married in any color except black (the color of mourning) or red (which was connected with prostitutes). Later, many people assumed that the color white was intended to symbolize virginity, though this had not been the original intention. (It was the color blue that was connected to purity.) Today, the white dress is understood merely as the most traditional and popular choice for weddings, not a statement of virginity.

When i got married, I had already had relations. Women still like to wear white only because it brings good luck and it's also the traditional color. However women who have already had relations don't have a veil. The women who never had relations generally have one because it tells people "hey I am closed. " when the husband lifts up the veil to kiss her it tells people that he will be the first, because he raised the veil.

Because nowadays, white is simply the colour traditionally associated with wedding dresses. It no longer means that the woman is necessarily a virgin; white is worn just because it's the traditional colour.
Hope this helps.

Ok then... pick your colour!
“Married in white, you will have chosen all right. Married in grey, you will go far away. Married in black, you will wish yourself back. Married in red, you’ll wish yourself dead. Married in blue, you will always be true. Married in pearl, you’ll live in a whirl. Married in green, ashamed to be seen, Married in yellow, ashamed of the fellow. Married in brown, you’ll live out of town. Married in pink, your spirits will sink.”

Because it is now the traditional color and the symbol of purity hasn't worked in a long time.
Which color would you suggest instead?

White is like the doves... peace and means virginal. But if the woman loves her man then she has all the right to wear white.... coz she is making her life with him, pure and forever. God bless all the married women and hope it works for them all. MG
