That means 80% could recognise him, and a 75% knew who Saddam Hussein was.

Being up on current affairs is not really an accurate yard stick for intelligence, even though I wholeheartedly agree with you

Wow! I'm glad that the Americans aren't the only ones who are dumbing down! I once saw a show in which there were people here in the US who weren't able to identify Dick Cheney when they were shown a pic of him, and when one woman was shown a picture of Condolleezza Rice, she asked if that was "Mona Lisa Rice"! Funny, but sad!

This is why it irritates me when everyone whines about politicians.

We get the politicians we deserve.

No politician who was honest and told the truth, or discussed policies in depth, would have any success when the public are so ignorant and half-witted.
