Randolph signed a contract extension before the season started so I don't see the Mets firing him. A good majority of the blame needs to be directed at the pitching coach (Peterson). The pitching has been awful the past couple of weeks with big leads being blown. The Mets are also an old team: Delgado and El Duque have both broken down, Alou has been out with injuries and Green needed to ride the bench a little bit to freshen up. Firing the hitting coach and bringing in Ricky "the card playing coach" Henderson has not helped the team either. Minaya's arrogance in thinking he can put together a team that has poor starting pitching and little bullpen depth has hurt the franchise.

I have yet to understand why the media hails Randolph as a great manager. Like Dusty Baker, if anything he has underachieved. With that team of superstars the Mets should have steamrolled the battered Cardinals last October and be about 10 games ahead in the East right now.

I don't think so, and I hope not. I don't think that is the way Omar M does business.
One more thing... the mets although in a current losing streak have done much much worse in past years... these last few years they have been so close but fall apart at the end are better than the years when there wasn't a hope from game one! they were a bottom of the barrel team that is now floating to the top, just can't seem to surface.

In a perfect world the players would be blamed. But sadly Randolph will be the scapegoat for the players messing up.

He'll keep his job. After all, he can't be blamed for not having a good pitching staff, for Reyes not hitting the last few months, for Delgado getting hurt just as he got hot, etc etc. He did a good job considering. In the off-season, look for Omar to get him a reliable reliever and starter, and probably one more bat. If he then fails to win next year, unless there's a lot more injuries on the team, look for him to be gone.

Im not sure if he will be fired but were talking the worst collapse since 1951 (brooklyn dodgers) in new york. It just may cause him to lose his jobs. It brings up a comment i have known to hear " if you can make in new york you can make it anywhere" Only time will tell.

Should that occur Randolph could have a problem, but I don't believe it will.

i say no. I don't think what happened was really his fault. He as done some stupid things here and there like putting in mota when it really counts and taking out the starting pitchers too soon. But really i think it's all the bulpen's fault. How many leads will they blow?

I don't see why. He won it last year, has them in the chase this year, and, besides, they haven't been eliminated, so I figure he's going to manage the Mets for a while. He ought to. He's one of the better managers to me. Don't count them out till they're out!

He won't be fired. He'll take a lot of heat..I think more blame should go to the GM.
