My boyfriend got hit in the eye by a box a week ago. On monday he started feeling pain and it has now progressed to his bottom eyelid being red and swollen and hurts him when he blinks. But there is no head , its not watering, pussing, or anything. It is just very swollen. He isnt sure if it is even from him being hit in the eye or if it is an infection. Anyone have any suggestions?

Go to an eye doctor...He could have damaged his cornea, or something else. Don't fool around when it comes to an eye.

it might not be related to the box. but if it is he has most likely shocked the aqueous humour or has some celulose particles lodged in between his eye-eyelids. you need to have his eye examined because the doctor will have all the proper tools for the examination. If you think he has loose foreign material in there, have him run dH2O over his eye untill the foreign material is out.

some patients may believe that boric acid is safe and effective as an antiseptic eyewash, but it is not. they may attempt to create a soltion from boric acid powder, or boil boric acid solution to create their own eye drops. the risk of boron toxicity makes this practice potentially dangerous. furthermore, any ophthalmic infection manndates immediate medical attention.

if you think you have an eye infection, it is critical to avoid home remedies such as boric acid. too many people do not understand that many eye problems recquire immediate professional care so that full vision can be preserved. if there is any doubt about the seriousness of an eye condition, the wisest course of action is to visit a professional immediately, through an emergency room if circumstances dictate.

Make a solution of sterile water and boric acid. Apply compresses of this solution to the eye. Directions for how often and water/boric acid ratio will be provided on the label. You can just boil water to sterilize it, but don't use a too-warm compress. Truthfully, though, he needs to see a doctor if this is manifesting itself a week after the injury. Until then, try the boric acid; it's what moms and pediatricians for kids' eye infections.
