I would torture a foreign man to near death if it meant saving the life of one US citizen.

Torture isn't a reliable means of extracting information. People say anything to get the torture to stop. Not only will torture fail to "save numerous American lives" but it also breeds resentment, anger and ultimately, more terrorists. It's no coincidence that the insurgent violence against US troops increased after the Abu Ghraib pictures were published.
Democrats have not said they "will not do everything possible to protect American Citizens" that's an untrue and absurd statement.

No torture is acceptable. Ask John McCain who knows a little more about torture than you or I. Ask McCain about the value of information received from torture. Ask McCain about what status torturing the enemy puts a nation.
When did any Democrat say they wouldn't do anything possible to protect our nation? They didn't. You are using a classic Straw Man argument to try and bring down the Democrats that won't succumb to illegal activities. Bush has been so unethical that you cons believe it is progress.

I don't know of any Democrat who has made such a statement. Torture has rarely if ever proven itself as a tool for getting reliable information. There is no way to even judge whether or not torture would save lives without soem proof that some calamity was averted by the use of torture.

Joe Biden, John McCain, and several 4 star generals all agree that torture 1. does not work and 2. goes against everything America stands for.
John McCain, a former P.O.W., was subjected to torture and said he would have said anything to make it stop.
Torture does not work and can lead to bad intelligence. Like John McCain said, it isn't like the show "24" out there.

Torture is against international law, is ineffective, and weakens any claim America has to any moral high ground. If you can cite, with evidence, any specific example of torutre saving numerous lives, then I might be inclined to reconsider my position, but I know you can't.

No.Victims of torture will say anything they believe the interrogators want to hear to make the pain stop.Unreliable interrogation method.
Also, the American people would never accept torture as an option;it goes against what we stand for.I am part of the "we".I find it to be a disgusting practice and can never accept it as an option.Never.
And I am what some consider to be a conservative.

It's not worth asking, that's almost admitting that we do.
Sorry folks, playing with the A/C - on people who've lived their lives in 120 degree heat with no A/C - and blasting Ozzy to keep them up late at night, just isn't "torture." Butt-pyramids are stupid but again, "torture" is too strong a word to describe that. It appears the worst thing we've done to someone is dunk the worst of the worst, the actual mastermind behind the "planes operation," in a water tank.
Meanwhile when the terrorists capture innocent civilians they cut off their heads.
I'd like just once to see the mainstream media decry THAT.

No, we are the good guys, the guys with the white hats, we should not condone torture. That is not to say, that we don't have physiological methods to extract information. Sleep deprivation for instance. Bodily torture is barbaric and we should refrain, it only takes us to the same level as the people we are after.
