From the top of my head,

1. Stalin may be seen as the founder of the USSR
2. Established the theory of Socialism in one nation
3. Architect for the COMPLETE industrialization of the USSR (did in a decade what took other nations a century to do)
4. One of the actors for the reconstruction of Soviet government and military
4. Established close relations with China
5. Possibly gave rise to Chinese nuclear power (although after Stalin and de-Stalinization the Soviet-China relations sharply fell)

That’s all that comes to mind. I'm sure you can find much more if you know where to look.

But as many stated, Stalin will be remembered for malicious acts (whether they have a factual bases or not).

For one thing he created a famine in the Ukraine that resulted in the deaths (according to his own estimate) of 10 million of his people in an effort to "collectivize" the farms in what had been known as the Soviet Union's bread basket.
He confiscated their grain 2 years in a row in the late 20s on the pretext that it was needed to feed the rest of the nation, when in reality there was a surplus. So he dumped the grain at bargain basement prices on the world market just to get rid of it. He sent his troops into the Ukrainian villages and confiscated their food, sometimes even taking the bread out of the ovens while it was baking, and in many cases he surrounded villages with his troops and simply opened fire with their machine guns and slaughtered the people who weren't dying fast enough from starvation. This is in addition to the tens of millions that he had executed and dumped in mass graves elsewhere throughout the Soviet Union during his reign. Nice guy, huh?

His most "important" achievement was in murdering countless millions of people ! Stalin murdered seven million Ukrainians alone !

Stalin was the most ruthless of mass murderers of all time . As for Russia in general , the best thing he did was die !

well he defo gets my vote for most paranoid ruler... i suppose thats something....

oh and he also had his rival trotsky murdered in mexico...with an ICE PICK!... now if he thought he wasn't gonna blamed 4 dat he's an idiot...wat would a mexican be doing with an icepick!!!!!!

but if you want technical stuff...his 5 year industrial plans i suppose would be an accomplishment.... he turned a once agriculteral country into a major industrial power rivalling the USA .... but his people where still staring to death in their millions... i mean 40million during his rule inc. murders, famine, war and his show trials (like i said he was paranoid, he thought his enemies were everywhere and wanted everyone else 2 see it....

also i believe he drove his wife to suicide.... cheerful man!
