I have one router connected in the living room. i have a desktop connected to this router. I also have a laptop but i can't catch the wireless from this router wen i am in my room which is far from the router. Is there a way i can connect a next router closer to my room using cable or something so that i can use the the internet in my room on my laptop. How do i do this??

The desktop is connected to the router by wire. I dont think i can move the router. I saw some1 that had to routers one connected to the other to increase the range so i think it is possible

Apparently the problem is that the wireless cannot reach to your room.

You did not indicate whether the desktop is a wired or wireless connection to the router. If it is wireless, perhaps you can move the wireless router to a different location midway between the desktop and your room and both will be in range. The router WAN port is wired to the modem and you need to run the cat 5 cable to the new location.

If the desktop is a wired connection, you may have to run a new longer LAN cable from it to the router's new location and move the router closer to your room.

You can run a wired connection to your room and use a wired connection.

Finally you can purchase a second access point and run a wired connection to it. This may be able to be run closer to your room and easier than running a line completely to your room.

Wireless is nice but sometimes it is inadequate due to length and penetration limits.

You can not use 2 routers on the same connection, they conflict. What you need is a wireless range extender mounted between the router and the computer.

maybe both routers need to use RIP(routing information protocol) to communicate

login the both routers page and configure it
