We've known for awhile that the Chinese have hacked into our gov't commerce computers, theyve hacked into multiple gov't agencies, now we know that theyve hacked into the Homeland Security computers. Still we do nothing. Why?

We do nothing because we are impotent on so many levels. Firstly, as has been mentioned, we are practically owned by China, they make all our stuff, they pay our bills, and all the while, they get richer and stronger. Secondly, just look at how hard a time were having with Iraq! do you really think we could take on a country with over double our population, a severe standing army, more capital than us, more centralized industrial infrastructure, a single minded totalitarian directive and actual loyalty to their country? not to mention, they have LOTS of nukes. we would be whipped and wiped off the planet if we started a direct conflict with them. sure we have cool technology, but China is the ideal army ant model and is extremely good at keeping their secrets while finding ways to know everyone elses. China is much more than the next Russia, its all the worst parts of Communist Russia with superior organization, strong global will, diplomatic tact, and a bigass army which no one really knows anything about. I think were just gonna let China do whatever they want for now, cause there's nothing we can do except pay them back and stop buying their stuff, which wont happen any time soon.

Well they pretty much keep to themsleves in their little walled in country - and there is no precedent for bombing a country because they hacked your computers.

China is building for war, though. They've been using unreal quantities of wood, steel, and other resources that generally hint at a country preparing for war. In China's case, they are building for a very large war.

Because we don't want to piss them off.

In no particular order:
1. Trade, obviously
2. 1.3 billion people to our 302,515,000.
3. We're mired in the "war on terror" and can't afford to attack such a huge country (especially with its land mass and such varied terrain)
4. the U.S. doesn't want to draw attention to its own human rights issues

China is a real super power. Its not like Iraq where there was no WMD but US attacked on false apprehension. It requires guts to nail a big and powerful country like china.

We want cheap labor, cheap imports, and above all, Chinese finance of our debt.
If you could get each Chinese (one billion plus) to spend one dollar every day of the year with you, would that help with the phone bill?

We should all boycott their products. I guess because you can't tell off your banker.
