Can someone tell me why...
My gay Uncle Calvin always worked
Always had his own place
Provided for himself
Spoke manly and lived manly
(he was gay) just would never admit it!

Now that it is ok To be Gay
he moved back in with grandma
doesn't work
speaks very feminine
also uses limp wrist-ed hand gestures..
and moved his boy friend in with him... his boyfriend doesn't work either.. :-(
Someone please tell me if this is normal and a genetic defect
why the drastic change when it is publicly acceptable?

Trish, I think I have the answer! If at any time you think I'm being flippant, I am not.

Did you watch the last King Kong movie with Jack Black? There is a scene in which one member of the expedition party muses about how wonderful it will be for the previously terrorized population when Kong has been safely carted off to New York.

Jeff Black sees a much darker, sadder future for the islanders. He forsees that, without Kong to provide the impetus the islanders required to work hard together providing for the common defense, they will soon degenerate into drunken, aimless bums, and their civilization will collapse.

That's the analogy for your uncle. The constraints of society forcibly motivated your uncle to work and keep his little secret under wraps. Now that the big monster of shame has been figuratively removed from the island, he is trying to make up for lost time. He had a lot of pent up "swishyness", and the relaxed morays of society have allowed him to play his gay card to the hilt.

I think the same analogy applies to Islam and the Middle East. Islam was obviously devised by someone who realized that an unusually firm hand was necessary to organize and motivate the Arab and Persian people. Having a moderate, more tolerant religion simply would not provide the necessary iron fisted control necessary at the time to make the people behave in a way that was condusive to creating a strong society that could defend itself (just as the islanders defended against King Kong).

If your uncle was forcibly relocated to a country where gay behavior was frowned upon, that limp wrist would magically transform back into a strong arm chopping wood. He'd be swilling beers with the guys, and making lewd comments about the tavern waitresses.

Not normal. Fact is most openly gay men work harder and make more money than their straight counterparts. The gay community has plenty of power, influence and money.

My point is this. If your story is true, then the problem rests more with your Uncle's laziness and not his sexual preference. Being that you've already posted a similar homophobic question in this forum earlier, I am more apt to beleive that this is a straw man attempt to connect openly gay people to laziness - which as I pointed out, is overall completely inaccurate. And to be honest, most homosexual men ARE born that way, it's not about choice. Were you able to chose being straight? There is an arguement that some gay women are not actually gay - and I can buy into that. Women have different needs than men, and some find it easier to connect and have those needs met through someone of their own gender.

I gather you're straight.

Just as you didn't CHOOSE to be attracted to guys, neither did your uncle.

He's probably gone through hell. He was living in a world that constantly told him he shouldn't be, and was living a lie.

Have a little compassion.

What your grandmother does is her decision.

Now that it's more accepted to be gay, he's faced up to what he is. He's lived with a lot of internal conflict, this is his way of responding to that.

No, I don't know exactly why he's doing as he's doing, but it's really none of your business.

Back in the 80's and early 90's ( before Clinton) we had gays , we had everyone from all walks of life , living together , it was all about enjoying life , who cares if others have different preferences , It was just about living everyday as if it was your last .....The only cry babies we had then was Hillary Clinton , and her good friend Tipper Gore ( Al's b*tch ) they cried to the supreme courts to try to ban the music that made everyone care free , they had to settle out of court for warning labels on music and movies ,

During Clinton , everyone all of the sudden became victims of society , now we have cry babies everywhere coming out of the wood work so to say ....Everyone has turned in to self centered political cry baby victims .........

AND to think back then before Clinton , Schools were safer and not being shot up , and Susan Smith still had her kids alive ....

After Bill Clinton , schools get shot up , kids are dying at an all time high , old people get beat up ,and of course Susan Smith even killed her kids during Clinton all because the Clinton reign taught people to baby criminals ,and that criminals are victims too , ( *oh my broken heart weeps *) and not spank a bad @ss child , Now look where we are , kids are wild as h*ll , killing for fun , and crimes are through the roof because criminals know nothing will happen all of the sudden we treat criminals better than we treat our veterans, and the crime victims , we give more money to pamper criminals than we do to help violent crime victims .....because now being a helpless cry baby is the politically correct thing to do ...this new generation wants all life has to offer , but not work for it ..they want it handed to them by the government ..they feel they deserve the best , when they have not done anything to achieve the best ...Society has allowed special treatment to those cry babies who whine the loudest , You , and your family ned to go over there , and kick him ,and his man ,right square in their lazy @ss , and throw them ,and their sh*t out of that house , of course our wonderful liberals would say that is a hate crime , so do not leave any marks ....a few bars of soap in a pillow case up side the head will work fine , or a sock full of quarters ........

Have you not noticed before Clinton , we called the Police .." LAW ENFORCEMENT " ....and now days it is referred to as " CRIMINAL JUSTICE " .....I remeber the times before crack heads , when you could leave your car unlocked , house doors unlocked , but since the Cry baby Nation under Bill was formed it is too dangerous to do anything like that.............

He like a lot of Americans want to use his gayness as a crutch, excuse and reason for him being a victim. You can not bring to light your ideology if you don't have victims to prove that they are being put down. This goes for all "victims" in our society. Blacks, Women, Gays, Poor, Homeless, veterans, drug addicts, illegal immigrants, pedophiles, and abortionist. Case in point, The Jenna 6. Paraded out, big civil rights march, multiple protest, when 6 black boys, attacked 1 white boy, yet they are the victims here. Case # 2, widespread media attention on the illegal immigrant woman who was deported 2 times and had a illegitimate son, they parade her son in Congress as proof that she is a victim. You get my point, Your Uncle needs to feel victimized in order to justify his select behavior, otherwise, he would have to admit that HE is the problem, whereas, as the victim, it's someone Else's fault, surely not his. The real victim here is your Grandmother, and her love is the weapon that your Uncle uses.

Are you suggesting that all gay people will not work if society stops discriminating against homosexuals? I don't understand the reason for posting this in the politics section. Maybe you should write to Dear Abby.

Wow you brought out the wackos with this one, didn't you? Bill Clinton is responsible for Susan Smith killing her children and the middle east crisis is all about motivating arabs. The world's problems are so simple why can't your leaders just come to Y/A and all the problems would be solved.

hhmm...I have no idea...he seems to be trying to fit into a sterotype though! That is sad, I have a family member that lived off welfare and took my grandmother for everything she had..so i sorta understand your feelings. But up until your grandmother kicks him out and allows him to either sink or swim on his own he wont stop. I am sorry that your uncle has dissapointed you! I hope its nothing genetic, I dont think God makes people gay! I think he gives them a choice......

Would someone tell me why you'd want to trash your uncle Calvin in a public forum?

Could it be that you don't HAVE an uncle Calvin and you just want to rant about gay people?
