Depends on how fast your "average" person reads. But I read faster than anyone I know. If I have an empty two to three hours, I can knock out a 350-400 page paperback.

It would seem most think they read faster than average, as I believe I do. I really feel that I would like to slow down when I am reading for pleasure. All too often a good book is too soon finished!

When reading for work or the newspaper I have learned to quickly scan the info stopping at key words and reading those phrases. When reading for pleasure, I read much more slowly for comprehension and retention. I'm reading the entire catalog of Sherlock Holmes stories, 1100 pages and it has taken me a month or more to near completion.

I can read like you wouldn't believe. However I can't add 25 and 69 to save my life! I need pen and paper, I can't do it in my head. I speak three languages fluently, type 110 words a minute, teach english, but can't handle numbers. Isn't that the opposite of dyslexia?
