Gravel weighs about 68 kilos per cubic foot. Calculate the volume of gravel you need and convert to cubic feet, multiply the volume in feet cubed by 68 kg. You don't include enough information to do the calculation here, but it would be like this- 48" x 2" x (the front-to-back dimension in inches) = volume of gravel in inches cubed. Cubic inches divided by 1728 = cubic feet. (careful about the decimal). Cubic feet times 68 kg = weight of required gravel. Another way to cross check would be to use the old formula 1 1/2# to 2# per gallon, and see if this is close to your volume calculation.

try to have an inch of gravel. Because if you have to much it will just collect all the waste on the bottom, you really don't need very much. Just get a bag and try to guess.

none of these answers are consistent, none make sense.....if gravel is purely decorative then why not just use glass marbles? 1 inch, 2 inch, 4 inch, 5 inch....how about a steep slope so all the fish poop will roll down in one area, much easier to clean, eh.......none of this makes any sense

if you have it unplanted (no real plants) you shouldn't need more than 1"-1.5", if you have plants, go for 2".
too much gravel too deep can lead to muck and yuck getting trapped deep down and messing up your water parameters, if it's kept shallower it's easy to keep clean and stir up with the gravel vaccuum at each water change.

15kg for a thin layer, or 20kg for a bit thicker. There is a website that calculates how much you need, but I cant find it at the moment - Have a thourough look on Google for it.
