There are no 3 or 4 star hotels right next to the ATT center, but the downtown hotels are just minutes away and provide access to lots of entertainment opportunities.
(There are several nice hotels in the downtown riverwalk area, I will give you 5 that are a good value 4 in which I have stayed.)
for 4 star hotels:
My favorite - St Anthony A Wyndam Historic Hotel, built in 1909 and beautifully restored (from $127/nt) 210-227-4392
Hilton Palacio del Rio (from $129/nt) 210-222-1400
Marriott Plaza (from $169/nt) 210-229-1000
all are on or within 1 block of the Riverwalk.
3 star hotels
Best Western Sunset Suites-Riverwalk (from $99/nt) 210-223-4400 (furthest from downtown activities as it is across I 37 but can be easily walked in just a few steps to the Riverwalk
The Menger (this again is a historic hotel, and the bar attached to the hotel is where Theodore Roosevelt recruited the Roughriders for the Spanish-American War, (from $129/nt) the Menger is also convienent to the Alamo if you are interested in visiting that while you are in town. Though all these hotels are within 4 blocks of each other.
The closest attractions in November would be Ripleys Museum, the Wax Museum, the IMAX at Rivercenter Mall, the Alamo, and other downtown sites including the Riverwalk. After October 31st both Sea World and Six Flags close for the season. The downtown sites are pretty much within a few blocks of each other and if you do not want to walk between them, there is a bus trolley system that serves the downtown area.

There are not that many newer hotels near the AT & T Center. Stay downtown, its wonderful and not far from the venue. La Mansion downtown is a 4 or 5 star hotel. The Sheraton Gunter, Marriotts, Hyatt, Hilton Palacio Del Rio, Menger, St Anthony, Valencia, etc... all of these hotels are downtown and are top notch places to stay. Downtown San Antonio is loaded with great things to do and see. The Riverwalk, Alamo, The River Center Mall, Majestic Theater.
The Christmas Lights will decorate the Riverwalk the day after Thanksgiving. The view from the downtown hotels are beautiful. I do not know when the concert is, but if its after Thanksgiving the decorations and lights will be up.

Unfortunately, the AT&T center is not in the nicest area of town. As much as the city tries to bring it up, the nicest thing about the AT&T center is the center itself. But, go there and stay downtown instead. The Hotel Valencia Riverwalk is lovely as is the Marriott San Antonio Rivercenter . My favorite is the Emily Morgan Hotel, The Watermark Hotel And Spa, and of course, The Westin - Riverwalk.
Here are a couple of other things that will be fun:
The San Antonio Children's Museum
Today's South Texas, Tomorrow's World? - Tejano South Texas
Witte Museum
Christopher and the Swordman
Josephine Theatre

See the River Walk. A lot of good resturants. Stay at the Menger, the Gunther, or St. Anthoy hotel. They are all downtown and very old and elegant. Be sure to visit the Tower of the Americas in the Hemisfair Plaza. Remember the Alamo! If you have time take in Brakenridge Park and the Botantical Center . Park is on Broadway and Botanical center is near the park, they are not far from downtown.
Unfortunately, there are no great hotels near the AT&T Center.
Whatever you do, please do not stay at Days Inn.
If you will type in AT&T Center San Antonio on google search it will throw up a list of motels, motor inns, near the Center.
Good luck and hope you enjoy San Antonio and You'all come back , ya hear. LOL

I would stay on the riverwalk somewhere. There are no really nice places in walking distance of the AT&T center, at least that I would stay at. Stay somewhere downtown
