I learned a long time ago that the only thing that really matters are the people that you care about. Everything else (including your own life) is fairly transitory. Finding 'yourself' is one of those curious exercises that really leads nowhere because, without any interaction with others and the rest of the World, you really -have- no existence anyway.
Sure...... Physical 'things' are nice to have. But even the richest and most powerful Kings of a thousand years ago didn't have a fraction of the 'things' or the ease of lifestyle that most of us enjoy today. 'Things' are transitory, but the true nature of who and what we -really- are, and how that relates to the rest of our World, is uniquely ours.
You don't need to 'lose the things which are important' to 'find yourself'. The things that are important --are-- what defines you and makes you yourself.

I cannot think of anything that is really important to me. I have no family. No children. So, if I truly found myself, then what is the point or where do I go from there? I would rather experience what the world has to offer, and I don't take it to mean material things either. Bring it on!

what matters the most to me is the abitly to help others no matter what the issue might be. it started back in middle school where students did a funraiser to help help other students that didn't want to talk to their teachers, parents, or principal, or students at the own school. them parents found out about it and stated spreading the news so a bunch of students and i got together and made a private phone for the parents/adults call call and get advice. so every sence that day we have help others and still continue to do so in more than just answer the phone and giving adivise over phone, i vollinteer some time local clinics, hospitals and other places that offer people to help others.

i'd rather get all the world has to offer and find oneself... if you can't do both at the same time then its probably not the right situation. i wouldn't put myself in a sacrificial situation where i risk losing...

I would choose to find myself...
What do I need materials for?
I'd much rather understand me then to live in a false sense of power and wealth.
Riches won't be there forever.
Now what happens to your soul, your personality after death...
Who knows?
But even if it ceases to exist...
Wouldn't understanding your true purpose in life be better than living a material life for a short amount of time?

I believe that whatever matters to me, whatever I would want rather not to do without, is a weakness in me in the ultimate analysis... I would aim for a state of mind such that nothing matters to me.
