I think I may need a new transmission soon. It's been acting weird. slipping gears and making some grinding noise when I shift.

Stop what ever you are doing and listen or read save your self $$$$$ this car has 2 types of transmissions If it is an 440t4R or R440TR ONLY get it from the dealership "on order" as this transmission has over 120 modifications sense it has been put in for service and no human can do it all.
The factory Rebuild unit is the only way to go I am a master Auto Tech and have rebuild Meany Meany Transmissions. This trans if rebuild in a shop will only have a life span of 18 months The factory unit will cost about $500 more after installation BUT you will get about 7 years of service out of it.
P.S. The 440 series Transmission is recognised by a Vacuum solenoid facing the front of the car between the Bell housing and the Radiator. A large circular object with a vacuum line attach to it. Now if this line is bad the trans wont shift or only shift at wide open throttle. you may e-mail me for more info

If it's an automatic transmission, it depends on how many speeds it has etc These are new remanufactured transmissions with 3 year, 75,000 mile warranties. GM also can install a new remanufactured transmission with the same warranties in your car.
