Off course he's leading the AL in AVG and doubles, second in RBI'S, he also helps his team with the glove so that should be the criteria for an MVP. The thing is that A-Rod has better numbers than him (lead the league in HR and RBI'S, hitting over 300, 24 SB) and here is where the definition of an MVP, is the player that due to his performance his team achieve a better position, if you take A-Rod out of the Yankees the season is for sure that the Yanks where at 3rd position. They didn't had a great pitching stats they allowed more runs that any other team on their division but they also scores more runs that any other team in MLB.

If he was in the NL, he'd be the runaway winner. But unfortunately for him, the AL already has a runaway winner. The reason you're hearing A-Rod this and A-Rod that is because A-Rod is having an incredible year. Yes, Ordonez is also having an incredible year, but just not as incredible. That, combined with the Yankees making the playoffs and the Tigers not gives A-Rod the MVP.

Absolutely! I love Maggs! Maybe I'm a bit bias (ok a lot) because I am a Tigers fan, but Ordonez would get my vote. It seems that the mvp frequently goes to whoever hits the most home runs and since that seems to be the criteria it looks like a-rod will get it.

Oh, sure. He had an imposing season. Had the Tigers made the playoffs and the Yankees not, he would be the front runner.
This is the kind of situation in which you wish there were a player of the year award, too. If the Tigers made the playoffs and not the Yankees, the Ordonez would win the MVP and A-Rod the POY.

Jason? Is this question more about your dislike for the Yankees than it is about the AL MVP winner?
You can't possibly think that Ordonez should win MVP over A-Rod this year.
Ordonez will be the MVP of the Tigers and that's it.

A-Rod this, A-Rod that, well his stats prove he deserves the MVP even though Ordonez had some good stats as well but A-Rod had better all around stats. He will be considered & get some votes but A-Rod should win it.
