1) drop - a W is always better than an F
2) any college you attend is your "real college" because whatever you do where you are will impact where you can go later. You won't transfer into a 4-year college with a collection of Fs from a community college.
3) check to make sure that you're not allowed to turn in this paper late (probably with a grade reduction).
drop it before the last day for a W or you're going to take a WF which is the same as an F

First I would talk with your professor and see if you can turn it in late even though you may not get any points, if she/he says no then I would consider dropping the class and reenrolling at a different time. However, you may not be able to drop the class. Most colleges only offer a two week window to add/drop classes and if this is the case then you'll have to take the F and then take the class again.

It is always better to drop rather than get an F. That F stays on your record, even if you retake the class. It's a bad mark against you in most cases. If you are so sure you'll flunk, then bail now before it is too late. That said, it would be even BETTER if you stuck it out, worked hard, and talked to your professor to see if they'll give you a break. Good luck!

Turn in the missing paper late. Better late than never. Don't drop the class, try again. Don't be so hard on your self. College is harder than high school and most high schools don't do a very good job preparing you for college.

Ask first if you can make the work up.
If not, and your just going to get an F.... just stop going.
Focus on your other classes and pick the English up another time.
Make sure to learn a lesson from this mistake, .... to become more organized and diligent at turning work in early, or at least on time. Don't procrastinate, college is tough, no one reminds you or begs you for your work. You have to do it all on your own.
I'm sure you will do fine. I did the same thing with a Chemistry class when I first started college. Don't sweat it. Scrap the class and move on.

Ask the professor if you can turn it in late, or even better just turn it in and see what he says. He might not say anything. But if the situation is as bad as you say, it is much better to drop the class than to get an F.

Talk to the professor see what you options are to pass the class. Drop it rather than fail.
