I for one am not the least bid surprised. We cannot pull out until we can leave with an established Iraqi government and military to take our place; otherwise the vacuum for government will only give way to the Iranians.
I'm not saying that I support the war as a whole, and no one wants our troops home more than I do, but we must leave with honor, and as "anti-war" as the democratic party has tried to make themselves, they know that to unconditionally pull-out would be a mistake of astranomical proportions.

Same as the many promises the Democratic congress made in the run up to the 2006 election, they have not kept any of those promises. And their ratings are lower than the President and the worst ever for a Congress.

After the mess that George W Bush and the people that enabled him ( The G O P and people that voted republican)
have made of that country, it makes it very hard to just Leave.
However, combat roles should cease immediately.
We have the same situation here with our false economy,
After the mess that George W Bush and the people that enabled him ( The G O P and people that voted republican)
have made of the DEFICIT
it will take the Democrats years NO decades to fix the damage these Republicans have done.
Our great Great Grandchildren will still be paying off the debts run up by this Presidency and his mindless followers.

No one should be surprised....it's logical. The Democratic Presidential candidates may talk their liberal trash but they are surely not dumb.
Leaving Iraq would be handing over the Middle East to Muslim Fanatics and would create problems worldwide.

Quote from the article you linked:
Edwards said his position on Iraq was different from Obama and Clinton, adding he would "immediately drawn down 40,000 to 50,000 troops." That's roughly half the 100,000 that Gen. David Petraeus, the top U.S. commander in Iraq, has indicated could be stationed there when President Bush's term ends in January 2009.
So what's your question again???????????????

They must be listening to the advice that President Bush has been giving them.
...plus, the surge is such a success that Dems are trying to 'cut and run' from their 'cut and run' strategy.
