mean necessarily that they will beat them in the playoffs It deosn't mean they won't beat them either, but are people acting like it's an automatic.

I have seen this comment a few time, have these people not watched the playoffs before, it's a whole new game.

I agree the playoffs is a whole new season anything can happen anybody can win (look at the 83 win cardinals last year or all the wild card teams that have WS Titles).... what i would like to see is baseball go ahead and do the NFL playoffs format ad 2 more teams and let the 2 Best records get a bye past the first round. Just imagine brewers, cubs, diamond backs, mets, padres and Phillies all in the playoffs right now... that would be fun to see. or how bout Detroit and Minnesota going the rest of those AL playoff teams... i don't know about you but i would love to see some quick 3 game series...

Good point! I remember the 1983 playoffs. The Phillies and the Dodgers. During the regular season the Dodgers beat the Phillies 11 out of 12 meetings. Then came the playoffs. The Phillies ended up pounding the Dodgers and won the the NLCS 3 games to 1.

You're right, it a whole new game!!

I agree that the playoffs are a totally different beast than the regular season. Dont forget, Cleveland may have Sababthia and Carmona twice, but we will have Wang and Pettite as well in those games. By the way the Yanks saw Carmona twice this year and as recent as early August and we faired pretty well against him the last time we faced him, he gave up 4 runs on 8 hits in 7 innings. Once again, anything can happen in the playoffs....

Yeah, you can never tell for sure what's going to happen in October in a short series. The Indians have great pitching (especially Sabathia and Carmona) which make them a really dangerous post season team but as a Yanks fan, it's kind of the lesser of two evils given the Yanks post season history versus the Angels.

Yankee fans better watch what they wish for in playing Cleveland. If Cleveland ends up having the best record they can choose how long to have the series, which could put Cleveland in the position to have both Sabathia and Carmona face your team twice and on a normal five days rest in between. Let's remember, you have yet to face Sabathia and Carmona only once. Like I said, be careful what you wish for.

Anything can happen in a short series. Ask the Detroit Tigers after last year in the WS.

Also, the White Sox have the second best record within their Division, yet they're battling for last place.

Like I said before ,Kevin, this is NOT the same Indian team the Yankees faced earlier this year(as us Tiger fans found out quickly).Your Tribe will beat them and shock the world like the Tigers did last year..they are on mission for Cleveland.I hope they win,(for us Detroiters and your city)

It doesn't mean too much. I think that all it will do is give one team a slight confidence boost over the other going into game 1, but one the first pitch is thrown, all bets are off.

Yes you are 100% correct and the real season starts October 1!!! Which means that the Yankees have unfinished business with the Angels!!!

Anything can happen. The Yankees were 6-0 against Cleveland this year, but they didn't face C.C. Sabathia. They may see him twice this series.
