I found this to be disturbing, so I thought that I would ask everyone what their opinion is:

I asked this young man who he likes for president. This will be his first presidential election (he's 20). He said he will vote for Hillary Clinton. I asked him why.

He said, "Well its not that I really have much of an opinion on her policies and I really don't have anything against any of the other candidates, I just want to be able to say that I was part of the first woman ever to be elected president of the United States."

could this _possibly_ be typical of a Clinton supporter?

Yes, the attitude of this 20-year-old man frightens me beyond words. I do not deny that a woman might do an equally good job in the position of the Commander-in-Chief as a man could do, but anyone other than Hillary Clinton would be the better qualified to do so.

The young man's attitude speaks of strong Democratic ties and a naive outlook on politics and world security--specifically ignorant on the wiles and vices of Hillary.

That scares me.

After this topic I need to take three aspirins and lie down.

Just the thought of a Clinton back in the white house is scary enough but another 4 years of Hillary can not be tolerated.

Anyone who thinks that it was +BILL+ who was president those 8 years needs to look again.

Not really, it is youth. There will always be a certain percentage of uniformed who will never appreciate the power they have to vote any more than those who CHOOSE not to exercise their power and vote at all.

Please ask everyone to take the time and learn about the candidates and vote the issues and NOT THE PARTY. Both parties represent their own self interest and neither is more for you than the other. Vote for the person that speaks to your desire for the future of our great nation.

I think this is typical of a first time voter. I wished I never voted for Jimmy Carter, but I was young and stupid. I would say that most young women will vote for Hillary because she is a woman not because of the issues....Yes It is Scary!

Honestly, it doesn't really matter anyway. The Electoral College has final say on elected presidents. So the frightening thing is that we are told our vote counts and it doesn't...not really. The Electoral College usually votes the way the state does, but it has the option not to....

I'm not exactly scared of dying, but more about how I will die. I wonder if it's going to be in some freak accident or from natural causes (i hope). My wish is for my death to be painless (I really don't like pain). Like Socrates says "Do not fear death because what waits for you in the after life might be better than living" or something to that effect.

Takes more than an ill-informed voter to frighten me, what frightens me is; the fact that people would vote for a candidate based on partisan politics and not what is best for our nation.

That is a little frightening and there will probable be people who vote for her solely on that. But think about it, there are also people who vote a certain way just because that's how there parents voted...

No I dont think so. If you talk to enough people you will be amazed how many people vote for a candidate because they like the way they look on t.v. Sad but true.

What is even more frightening is that this mentality is not limited to 20-year-old, first-time voters. There seem to be entirely too many out there who have the "anyone but Bush" or "any other than a Republican" position. THIS is what will be behind their decision; how scary is THAT?!
