Birds are too noisy and messy.
Looks like the only other choice is some type of reptile, or a hermit crab.
Leopard geckos are very docile and very easy to take care of.
Some snakes can get too big, and if somebody accidently left the tank slightly open, the snake will most likely escape.
A leopard gecko would probably be the best choice. They eat mealworms or crickets and are very clean, and can't climb the walls of the tank to try and escape.
You just have to be careful with their tail, can't grab it or it will fall off.

Ferrets are nice pets. They are in the canine family & not a rodent. They are extremely playful & smart. You just have to be careful because they can escape easily. Birds such as parakeets are a good choice as well.

Well, she has ruled out most of them. A pet ant? Oh, how about a rabbit? Most people consider them to be rodents but ther are not actually rodents so you can choose a rabbit!

A corn snake is a great pet. They are easy to care for and only need to be fed about once every week or so, they just always need to have water.

How about a bird? Rabbits are nice. Lots of classrooms have snakes; you might also have frog, turtle, or lizards.
