In democracy each and every one has the right to progress, prosper and have freedom to express his/her views. Media is playing the role of Educating, exposing and informing the masses about the functioning of the Government. In case media is curbed , the people will not be able to know the actual status of the things going on ,resulting in death of democracy.
- In democracy the public is supposed to be the supreme , by curbing the press, the government tries to bypass the public-
- By curbing the press the leaders start doing as per their will , resulting in anti people policies.

The first two Amendments to the United States Constitution are #1 and #2 for a reason.
Congress shall make no law respecting and establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof, or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or fo the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
A well regulated militia, being neccessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.
If you succeed in trampling either one of these rights, all of the other rights will follow, with virtually no resistance. Without the ability to freely exchange news, ideas, and information, the government can keep hidden it's agenda's from the public and operate at will.
Without an armed populace, even if the people know about the agenda's, they are powerless to do anything about it.
These two rights support each other, and while the general populace's use of the 2nd would be considered an absolute LAST RESORT, the threat of it has been sufficient for the last 200 plus years to keep the power hungry politicians at bay.
So now is it any wonder why we are seeing bills before congress like the "Fairness Doctrine". Eliminate these rights bit by bit and soon there will be no problem in eliminating them completely.

Democracy should be killed. We once had a constitutional republic. Now we're sliding toward extreme socialism. The media is in the back pocket of those who control the government. The media has dumbed us down almost as much as public education. So the current mainstream media needs more than curbing. It needs its own death blow.

A free press is a necessity and, once a blessing.
Such a travesty it has--indeed--been bought out.
