If I am reading your example coorectily, it appears that it is putting a mark (-) in front of the second item and indenting it. Apparently it thinkw you are creating a list and it putting a bullet in front of the item and indenting it.

As soon as the bullet and indent appear, go up to the "Edit" menu and click on "Undo Auto Formatting" and the bullet and indent should dissappear, and the item go back into line.

You can also use the Bullet and/or the Indent Tools in the standard toolbar to correct the problem.
