On September 11, 2001, al-quaeda terrorists hijacked two commercial airliners (United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11) and crashed the two airliners into the New York City twin towers. There had been many good people who died on that day. This was one of the most memorable tragedies in History.

Because they are extremist Muslims bent on destroying western liberalism. Whilst we are to believe that this attack was the work of the so called Al-Quieda network, anyone with half a brain knows that this is untrue and that no such group exists on a mass scale. Bin Ladin most probably funded a few mad extremists when he heard their idea. Also, the sad truth is, that many so called democratic peace loving Americans (neo-conservatives)including that sly mousy looking George Bush were actually secretly delighted with the attacks as it gave them a reason, and public backing for far greater, illegal terrorist attacks on countries such as Afghanistan and Iraq. Countries where the people most likely dont have Yahoo Answers to cry about why these tragedies are happening to them.

sorry my friend, but I am sure you will have read that there are many memorable tragedies in history, this sad storey is , but only one devastating tragedy! We all feel so very sad. (I lost some one there also). I think the answers to your question is about: Power, Greed, selfishness and plain and total ignorance and stupidity and a total lack of human love and compassion, things done to the human race by the most evil of beings (are not humans) but pure evil beings in human form). The only comfort it this and all tragedies is that in brings people together in love, support and action, from all over the world, this is true power!! and this has to be the ultimate lesson to us all. It has been said: United you stand, Divided you fall" and some times the ultimate horrendous disaster has to happen, before we can be united in saying: Stop! If you check your facts, not just conspiracy theories you will find that George Bush, Dick Cheney, Marvin Bush and Jeb Bush wrote a scenario for what happened at the Twin Towers and scrapped their plan back in 1987. There 'are' documents that prove this. The plan was developed to get the American people behind an idea that was false into thinking that the bad guys did it. When in reality it was conceived, planned and executed by the four guys I mentioned above. Al Queda, Taliban no one of that nature had anything to do with the Twin Towers, the American President and his pals did the whole thing. Blackhawk Security was one of the companies that set it up.

The main gripe given by Al Qaeda was that American troops and bases were not welcome in Saudi Arabia, the holiest of lands in Islam. Al Qaeda had no love for Saddam by the way.
