An imminent vote in the Senate could save the lives of many Iraqi families at risk.
In a recent memo, U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Ryan Crocker said the United States must act more quickly to help desperate Iraqi refugees find safety – "Iraqis who have put themselves and their families at risk by working with us."
Due to the current crisis, approximately 2,000 Iraqis are forced to flee their homes every day. More than 2.2 million Iraqis have already fled to neighboring countries. Jordan has closed its borders and Syria plans to next month. Soon, Iraqis threatened with death will literally have no way to flee.
The U.S. promised to admit 7,000 Iraqis between October 1, 2006 and September 30, 2007. To date, only 719 have been allowed to enter. Fortunately, there is a bipartisan amendment in the Senate that will help bring some of these Iraqis - and other vulnerable Iraqi refugees - to safety in the United States.

If not, then How can we help the people who have been helping us who are now in danger of losing their lives for helping us?

Yes. They deserve our help. At the same time, send back other illegal aliens as the Cubans with the wet foot/dry foot policy. Who ever thought THAT one up?

I have such strong feelings on this, I'll try to make it brief. We have been fighting basically an invisible enemy. No uniforms, etc. Hey is your neighbor headed this way fat or is that a bomb? Over a million Iraqis dead! That neighbor lost a lot of friends and family. If your neighbor is saying praise Allah, run!

In my not-so-humble opinion, no matter how pathetic their refugees are, we should not bring them to the US. It is way too easy for terrorist to blend in with the crowd and gain easy entrance into our country.

Once in, it wouldn't be too hard for them to disappear and join a terrorist cell here. Do we really need this? I certainly hope not. I think one Sept 11th debacle is already too many.

Not to mention which, do we really need over two million more non-citizens on the welfare rolls, or competing for our already dwindling job base? We already have enough debate about illegal immigrants from Mexico.

Let's take care of our own poor and homeless first. Let Iraq worry about thiers. Let's not compound it by bringing in two million plus people who's religion tells them the easiest way into heaven is to wipe out as many 'infidels', (that's us, folks), as they can.

Dennis Miller disclaimer: "Of course, that's just my opinion; I could be wrong."

I don't agree with the premise of your question. The US did not destabilize Iraq. The muslim crazies have been doing that.
I don't think Iraqis should be admitted. There is no way to tell if a muslim crazy is posing as an ally.

NO we should not. We should make it safer for them to stay their and change their own Country. The US is not the place to ocme if you can't stand your own place. Stay home, with the US's help, and change things. If you come here what is the chance that you will be involved in change in your own Country? NONE!!!!

Oh great, we are going to import another problem. People, study some history, these people have been fighting amongst themselves for centuries. What makes you think that attitude will change by bringing them here?

You have to learn from past mistakes about bringing people from other countries in mass quantities to the usa. Its not a good idea.

No we shouldn't bring those people here.

No, if they are too wimpy to salvage their own country and build it back up, let them suffer and or die.
