There is NO Pentium D 1.6. BUT there is the NEW Pentium E2140 (1.6ghz) that uses Core2 Duo technology. It is cheap but fast. Its performance is comparable to the Pentium D 935 3.0ghz.

No Celeron D could come close to its performance.

Pentium 11 and Celeron D not not compatible processors. Although they are both made by Intel, they are very different. Celeron is slightly cheaper than Pentium CPUs, but they work okay, other than the cache memory on the celeron chip is less than on a Pentium, so the same rated speed processors, the Pentium will run faster.

Intel Pentium D for these reason

1.)First and for most it's dual core they celeron is a single core (the D is there just to differentiate it from the older celeron.)

2.)not crippled performance by 256k of cache it's very noticeable when playing games / apps that use cache enough for a noticeable decrease in performane.

3.)You might be talking about a Pentium Dual Core E2140 which can beat a E6700/6750 when vcore is adjusted and overclocked to 3.2 ghz or beat a E6550 non vcore adjusted and overclocked judging by how the E2160 overclocks.

Here is the differnece between Pentuim and Celeron: L2 Cache.

Pentium will ave 2-8mb L2 and Celeron generaly have 256-512kb. Honestly, between the teo I would go Celeron, the GHz difference will make up for the L2 difference...
