If you have a sound card, then de-installing and re-installing it (the software not the physical card) often works. It should have come with a CD that allows you to do this.

If the sound card came with the computer, go to the web site of the manufacturer of the PC. Look up the computers model and they should have the latest drivers available as a free download.

If you purchased the sound card separately, you will need to go to the site of the card's manufacturer for the latest drivers instead.

You may have to join but it is totally free to do so.

go to the maker of your pc website and download the driver. e.g if it is HP go to www.hp.com and go to support and choose driver. you will need to know the model of your pc and also the operating system
