How do I keep AOL's messenger service from popping up or starting when I start up my computer? My son uses it so I can't unistall it without taking it off of the entire computer. Is it possible...HELP...it's such a pain in the neck and it slows down my start up time, everything will freeze until that has come on.

Start AOL Messenger, and then look in the menus for either Preferences or Options (forget which it is for AOL). There will be a check box in there that determines where it loads on start up.

1. delete the shortcut from startup folder (Program>Startup)
2. Locate the key in the registry file
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
or
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Find the Key of AOL messenger and delete it.l
