As long as people are willing to buy the books, DVD's, and memorabilia, people are not going let her rest in peace.
The only thing that would stop this is to somehow declare 100% of any money collected in her name be sent to fund one of the charities that she worked for in her life. Only when the profits end, will the celebrity industry let her rest.

I think that some people get too obsessed about certain subjects and aren't prepared to consider other points of view. For me, the Diana scenario is fairly straightforward.
1. Diana and Dodi travelled in a car late at night.
2. The driver had a mixture of alcohol and other drugs in his bloodstream and shouldn't have been driving.
3. The driver drove too fast through a tunnel and crashed into a pillar.
4. Trevor Rhys Jones was wearing a seat belt and survived. Diana, Dodi and the driver were note and died. If they had worn seat belts, they would have probably survived.
If it had happened to a non-royal, I don't think there would have been so much fuss. Other people have died because of dangerous driving (including driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs). Too much money has been spent on the Diana saga, but it sells papers.
At the moment, there is also too much information about Madeleine McCann. Briefly this is the story:
1. Madeleine's parents leave the children in a rented villa, while they go out with some friends. They do not hire a child minder or put the children in a creche, which may have cost them about £20.
2. Somebody checks the villa every half hour or so. The door is left unlocked.
3. Either Madeline walks out or somebody gets in and takes her, while the other adults are having fun.
4. Kate comes back and finds Madeleine missing.
5. The media becomes obsessed with the case and some papers put the story on the front page for several weeks. The McCanns are rich and the search has cost millions, but, hey, they saved £20 on child-minding fees.
Like Diana and Dodi, if they'd stayed overnight at the restaurant, chosen a sober driver and/or worn seat belts, they could have survived a crash. But they didn't and the media are looking for someone else to blame and the British Government is wasting a fortune running a trial so that someone can 'prove' that Diana and Dodi were murdered.

Simple. It sells newspapers. If people stopped buying them whenever there was a Diana headline you would soon never hear about her again.
About 12 years ago I was in the buffet at Slough station and a woman bought a copy of the Sun. It had a bit picture of Fergie having her toes sucked on the front page. I overheard he say to her companion "Oh, why don't they leave the poor girl alone?"
I couldn't help myself and said "If people didn't buy the papers they would.."
She looked at me as if I had crawled out from under a stone.
Says it all really.
Incidentally, this also applies to junk television like BB and the assorted "talent shows".

I totally agree, if for no other reason than her sons. Whatever the cause of their mothers' death won't bring her back and the confusion of thoughts and emotions that must be going through their heads is unbelievable! People need to have consideration and stop trying to take repsonsability for someone they only knew about through the media. At the end of the day there were real people who knew. loved and cared about her who are not able to move on with their grieving due the constant reminders. I say 'Let her rest in peace.'

The media won't leave her in peace but she makes them money. Unfortnately, as much as you and I are fed up of seeing the continual press interest in 'the people's princess' other people clearly continue their morbid interest in someone who is long dead. Papers sell and ratings go up when they feature Diana, even if the stories that they come out with are old and stale.
She was glamourous and had a tragic (yet financially charmed) life and this tends to, for whatever unusual psychological reasons, attract attention still.

People should leave princess diana alone and let her R.I.P there are more things far inportant to care about like our own soldiers dieing on the frount line then going on about princess diana, I think we need to takew a look at whats going on in our own country and the lives that are being lost and let this poor woman who has been in the spot light R.I.P for once.

I agree that she should be left in peace now that it's been 10 years, but since there are still questions about the manner of her death, it will probably not happen any time soon. Some things should be left alone, this is definitely one of them.

I can't understand what all of the emotional commitment is all about. Why can't people just get a grip? I can't comprehend how someone can get so upset about someone they didn't know.
I liked Aaliyah and Jimi Hendrix but I didn't cry when they went down for the dirt-nap.
I saw people weeping uncontrollably on the TV.
I'd be interested to know if these people had lost anyone really close to themselves; like a brother, sister or parent. Then they'd know what real grief is all about. Not some lame excuse for pity .
She was a fantastic human being but not worthy of my tears; I simply didn't know her.

As this death has never been fully investigated it is now going to be. It should have happened 10 years ago but it is only right it is investigated now. Also as someone pointed out the driver has been accused of being drunk etc and the evidence to that is flawed. Al fayed also wants answers as his son died aswell so if it was your family you would want answers to their death.

The whole world fell in love with her and was so saddened by her tragic death. They will never forget her and her Two sons. Her sons organized the tribute to Diana because they know how much people will always love her.If her sons care then it is fine with me.
