Somethings just not right with this picture to me...the NFL still hoped Vicks might come back after his suspension - after he raised, trained and fought LOTS of dogs. Now that he's been found with marijuana in his system he may not be able to come back. I for one think he should have lost his contract and any chances of coming back after the dog charges. What message is this sending to the children... abuse and train animal to hurt each other...just don't use pot?
Your thoughts?

I generally agree with you. The dog fighting is WAY MORE SERIOUS than the marijuana use. If you want to fry your own brain Michael Vick, more power to you. But when you start torturing and killing animals for any reason, you become a monster and you should be put down the way you put those poor dogs down.

In general, I agree, the dog fighting, connection to gambling, lying to the commissioner, etc is considerably more serious and should certainly warrant a lifetime ban. But the suspension was "indefinite" and I think Goddell was waiting until Vick was sentenced to make a final decision. Goddell was kind of over a barrel with the whole thing. I think he wants to throw Vick out, but he also has to do so in a way that the player's union doesn't have to go to bat for Vick. Vick didn't admit to any gambling, it never went to trial so the testimony from the other participants isn't "proven," Goddell has nothing to prove Vick participated in any gambling which already warrants a lifetime ban and would be the easiest "out" for the NFL. I think he wanted to see how long Vick would be sentenced for then make his decision.

But honestly, Vick just solved the NFL's problem. The likelihood of Vick getting more than 18 months now is much greater. I'm sure he's just pissed that judge right off and will be going away for a while. It won't matter if the NFL says he can play ever again or not. By the time, he gets out and the suspension is served, he won't be in any condition to play football. But to be on the safe side, the NFL now has multiple ways in which to send him packing.

This whole situation is confusing. I don't condone dog fighting, but I'm wondering if the NFL decided to go with a suspension since dog fighting is "accepted" in certain segments of American culture (most notably in the South). Doesn't make it right, but maybe they thought he had some rehabilitative potential after he endured the suspension and took his lumps at trial. Now here he is, hasn't even gone to trial for dog-fighting yet, and he pops positive for marijuana. Many people don't consider smoking dope as serious as dog-fighting (and I'm one of them), but when you have someone like Michael Vick who is in the middle of a scandal over dog-fighting, you'd think he'd be smart enough to keep his nose clean and do whatever he could in an attempt to salvage his image. I could see the NFL commissioner saying "Well, Vick obviously didn't learn his lesson the first time, and he's continuing to make the NFL look bad, so let's get rid of him." Make sense?

By the time he gets out of jail he'll be so washed up it won't even be funny. Alot of kids running around with his jersey looking up to him as some sort of role model.
The vicks are law breaking idiots who had the world by the shorthairs. Doing drugs, playing around with guns, listening to that gangsta rap music no doubt ....

I seen that show the other day, "the vick divide" and how they compared belichick to vick. There is no comparison as one is a felon and one just broke the rules. That was the dumbest show I think I ever seen.

In football pools I use to take atlanta because of vick being on the team only to see them lose or not cover the points, so I think he sucks anyway.

The dog fighting is a crime, yes....but the illegal gambling charges are what will land his azz in the Fed joint ( pun DEFINITELY intended! ). He's ruined in the NFL anyway, so if he wants to toke up, thats on him. I think it is so hypocritical that the government allows the use of medicinal pot yet still keeps it criminalized for the average Joe. SO why iste illegal gambling such a big deal??? IMO, because Uncle Sam doesn't get his cut when it's done off the radar. They don't give a damn about him fighting those pitbulls, or how he supposedly treated them when they performed poorly. It's all about the $$$$ to the Men in Black.

No, He could be suspended yet no longer for the completed season. no longer something has been shown. The word ALLEGATIONS skill no longer something to no one in this u . s .. you're harmless until shown in charge in this u . s .. no longer any different way around. enable the courtroom equipment do its interest after which you will decide the guy all you prefer. you may no longer basically pay attention some random allegations and make judgement calls approximately that guy whom you recognize no longer something approximately in my view... Sorry relating to the rant. besides. to answer your question, enable the courtroom equipment do its interest and then the NFL will do its interest, yet a NFL bylaw states that a participant would not could be shown in charge to stand punishment from the NFL.

Well last I heard he was suspended indefinitely for the dog fighting. Doesn't the failed drug test add 4 more games? He lied to the commissioner about the dog fighting. Part of his deal we the Feds was no drugs. Then he goes and fails a drug test. He is just digging his hole deeper and that's why his suspension will just keep getting longer and longer. Its not because of the drugs. He still thinks he is above the law.

They were willing to at least give him a shot at playing again but adding drug use while on bail hurts his chances even more. He can still play, no one has ended Vicks career but Vick.

The NFL didn't HOPE Michael Vick came back...If you've been paying attention, Roger Goodell is the LAST person that would allow Vick back in....Vick is toast, because he LIED DIRECTLY to Roger Goodell when Goodell asked him about the dogfighting...Vick denied it...Vick won't be back...

Dog fighting is not 'accepted' anywhere - they are just making excuses for him. I have lived all over the deep south, and I've never heard of dog fighting. That is just the Yankee media trying to make us out to be dumb, cousin breeding, barbarians again.
