Yes, pleasure is negative in the long run, because it is intoxicating and impermanent..... therefore it is bound to lead ultimately to disappointment or dissatisfaction...... disappointment if and when it stops and dissatisfaction if and when it gets too much.

Hi Third P.
Pleasure can certainly be positive; but it can also be negative.
Psychopaths find pleasure in torturing & killing people; that is most definitely negative. If someone takes a warm bubble bath with candles burning & quiet music playing, it is certainly positive.
The defining factor for negative & positive pleasure seems to be whether or not your pleasure hurts someone, even yourself.
Pleasure should never come at a cost to someone else's well-being, even your own. If pleasure does not hurt you or anyone else, then it is positive. When I say hurting anyone, I mean physically, emotionally, spiritually, or morally.
Peace.

There is no absolute values in our world because everything is relative. Negative values are not entirely negative, but contain a proportion of positive values and vice versa .
for example pain is a negative value, but it leads to expedite Maturation mental and psychological and the same thing for the pleasure which is a positive value, but it might lead to loss The sensitivity and Estimating the suffering of others
so We can not rule on something as negative or positive because everything holds both of them together , but in different proportions.
thanks for yahoo

Pleasure as the negation for negatives is then negative. Human essence posits its self positively and is therefor positive. Thought pleasure is positive, the formed Judgment as against pleasure is negative and the Judgment formed as that object Judges pleasure negatively.
Objective subjectivism is individualistic not universal but specious as in ideology.
Subjectivism
Subjectivism refers to extreme emphasis on the significance of the individual subject in cognition (as for example in the Second Positivism). In Ethics, subjectivism claims that no moral truths are possible, they are entirely relative to the person.
Dialectics combines subjectivism and objectivism for a complete understanding of the universe, emphasizing for example the role of the individual in making history, while emphasizing the role of society in influencing the individual.

Can be. Material pleasure is negative because it is binding us to the false conception of material life. IT is illusion and can bring one to another material birth within this material world. We should aspire for the highest transcendental pleasure which begins in the service of God (Bhakti) and tastes so sweet and is actually ecstatic.

Pleasure in this material world is temporary and illusory and brings only pain and suffering in its way. On the other hand, the pleasure you get in spiritual practice is pleasure beyond this world!

actually, we cant say that pleasure is negative or positive, i think the right is to ask " is pleasure necessary to us or not ?" and i think " yes its, because its instinct we cant do any thing about it" so whats matter if it negative or positive , its a necessity ,

Depends on the long-term consequences. Negative pleasures equals negative consequences.

No. It is the nature by which pleasure is obtained that decides whether or not is negative. Not pleasure itself.
