4x = - 15

1st problem:
4x - 3 = 7x + 8
3x = - 11
x = - 11/3
Answer: - 11/3 or - 3 2/3
Proof:
4(- 11/3) - 3 = 7(- 11/3) + 8
- 44/3 - 3 = - 77/3 + 8
- 44/3 - 9/3 = - 77/3 + 24/3
- 53/3 = - 53/3
2nd problem:
3(x - 5) = x(4 + 3)
3x - 15 = x(7)
3x - 15 = 7x
4x = - 15
x = - 15/4
Answer: x = - 15/4 or - 3 3/4
Proof:
3(- 15/4 - 5) = - 15/4(4 + 3)
3(- 15/4 - 20/4) = - 15/4(7)
3(- 35/4) = - 105/4
- 105/4 = - 105/4

you put 7x to the other side and change its sign so it becomes negative. put 3 to the other side and it becomes positive
4x-7x=3+8
-3x=11
-3x/-3=11/3
x=3.66666666666666
3(x-5)=x(4+3)
expand the equation
3x-15=4x+3x
move the 4x and 3x to the other side and they become negative. move -15 to the other side and it becomes positive
3x-4x-3x=15
simplify
-4x=15
-4x/14=15/-4
x=-3.75

4x - 3 = 7x + 8 ==> When any number is bring to other side their sign should be changed. For example when 7x is bring to the other side, it becomes -7x.
4x - 7x = 8 + 3 ==> Rearranged and combine like term.
3x = 11
x = 11 / 3
x = 3.667 or 3 2/3 ==> Decimal (3 d.p) or mixed number
