The saying is often repeated wrong.
"See a pin and pick it up, and all the day you'll have good luck"
This comes from the old adage of finding a needle in a haystack. Also it is very hard to see a pin so if you found one it was considered lucky.
The newer version of the penny should be "see a penny, pick it up. All day long you'll have a penny until you spend it"

Yes. But I prefer tenners.
I was in a pickle the other week as I bought a sympathy greeting card costing £1.99. I didn't want to keep the penny, so I had to find a charity box to put it in. I should be more level headed than this.

Ha ha, you just reminded me of the last time I did that! It was in a telephone box, as i was coming up, saying all day long... I wacked my head on the shelf, nearly knocking myself out cold, now, i always leave the penny well alone.
