You just might be okay. Alder is a tree of medium hardness that usually grows to a height of 35 to 40 feet with a diameter of 10 to 15 inches. Some can grow taller, but it's not normal.
They rech full maturity within 50 years.
Since it is a lightweight wood, this type of tree normally isn't too invasive to concrete, although it may push up paver stone laid over a bed of sand. The timber is not durable in the ground and may also suffer damage from wood-boring pests and beetles.
The root system can withstand having some cutting done, and I would try cutting the root away (if it upturns any pavers) before deciding to remove the tree completely.

good luck

I guess there are a couple things I wonder; given the stated height of the trees. Were they there before, or after the pool?

Might you have checked to see if they are a deep, or shallow rooting tree?

If you can determine the answer to the second thought; and do some research as to that species and its root system in general; as well as its eventual overall height and branch/leaf spread; it's likely you'll have some idea with regard to your Q.

I live in FL, and every home I've been in has been with a pool; which is an every day task as is. I can't imagine planting anything (much less trees) in close proximety to a pool, or even a sidewalk. Certainly in the case of a pool it can be screened.

If the trees are deep/finely rooted species then you'll probably be ok.

If the trees were there before the pool then you shouldn't have a problem, if you planted them after the pool then yes they may crack the pavement as they grow.
