My guy friend told me that he's slowly forgetting the girl he likes/liked because of me. Was he trying to say something?

Yes, he is telling you that he is forgetting the girl he likes/liked before...... no need to read between the lines.
He is saying he is now starting to like/going to like you...
But do not read too much from these few lines also, as he have not said , mentioned, motion, commit himself more to you... only that he is forgetting his past, and possible to create a future..
No More.. No Less.. (No need to start choosing wedding gown, or a wedding ring.. bed...pillow, queen zize bed etc...)
Take it a day at a time and see how thing goes...

he's trying to find out if he has a chance with you. if you don't then he looses nothing because he still has someone but if you do then he'll probably ditch her and be with you. that might be plus points if you like him but think about it.. if he finds someone he likes then you could end up like the girl that he will ditch because of you
