Mirriam Webster dictionary says that non chaloir (not concerned )is the old French root of nonchalant so you can be concerned!!! The Latin root is the word for heat so you are cool about ( or opposite : passionate about) say, the US Presidential race.. that is if you want to make a sentence of it.
