Sometimes I feel our young are missing so much if we allow these old films to go unremembered.

Scouse
I first saw it on the TV many years ago but I bought the film on DVD from Amazon. I watch it regularly because of the memories it gives me.

I think it does. I'm a sixties child and I've never come across this film.

A lot of classic film and television doesn't get shown because of political correctness and money men pushing often inferior remakes.

I've just bought the David Lean 1948 version of Oliver Twist. It is a masterpiece which few people of my generation have seen.

I enjoyed this film, especially the music which I have on a record of great film themes.

Liked comedies such as the Girls of Pleasure Island and John and Julie too

Yes quite well. I remember prio to TV the Pictures( none of this cinima or movies nonsense) were always full and you had to queue for hours in those days to get in for the cheaper seats at the front of the cinema; and the queue was controlled by a commissioner who whould shout "One single in the stalls" and if you were a couple you would split up and join up later inside

This is one I somehow missed...sadly...sounds like it was a wonderful story! with remarkable music

And no, I don't think remembering some movies gives your age away. I raised my children on many old films, which they are thoroughly familiar with and even own on DVD now...and they are in they 30's and 40's

Sorry, never saw the film, but the story certainly is filled with soapy pathos...and yes, it is entirely possible to love two people at the same time...one of lifes bitter realities. Peace, Goldwing

It seems as though when my kids reached young adults they pulled stuff out of the archives and enjoyed it. Like the songs too. One morning I woke up to the Rolling Stones and I thought I had reverted back 25 years!!
