I live in very south Finland which is far nothern than Germany and I've only seen the northern lights once in my life here, and they were very light too, hardly recognizable. But in Finnish Lapland I've seen them almost everyday in winter.

So I'm afraid you won't see any Northern lights in Germany, sorry.

Very very less likely it can be seen from Germany. You need to go further North to Northern Norway/Finland, Alaska, or Northern Canada. And it needs to be in the winter. September/April is still considered the best as it will not be too cold as in winter. Check spaceweather.com for more up to date info.

The replies are not strictly true. I have seen photos of the northern lights at Bodensee in October.
