Ha ha ha! I tried to highlight my own hair last summer and thought it was really easy when I got done applying it. I had to wait 30 mins before I could shower and wash it out (according to the instructions), During that time, my hair fell over my face and I kept pushing it back. After I got out of the shower and took the towel off my head, I screamed cause one of my eyebrows was bleached (looked like I didn't have an eyebrow) and I had several 5 in patches of bleach spots on the right side of my hair from when I kept pushing it out of my face. I couldn't leave my house. I called my friend ( who is a cosmetologist) and had her bring over some dye the next day and fix it for me. I was sooooo embarrassed. I won't ever do that again!

I have dyed my own hair since I was 25yrs old,I am now 59.I dye it very light blond.I have dark brown hair with a lot of gray now.Every 3rd dye job I bleach it out almost to white then put a colour toner on it.I use blondissima by clarol and then a dye like nice and easy which is one of the cheaper dyes.Never had a bad outcome. My hair is georgous and get compliments all the time.I condition it every shampoo. One warning though is if you use blond dyes don't swim in a pool with chlorine in it for 2weeks.I may go green or a mouldy blue colour.I always dye it before I get it cut too.

Yes, I have. The process might be a bit messy but the result was quite satisfying. Points to take nore :
1) Read instruction manual carefully before starting
2) Length of hair should not be too long - if hair is longer than shoulder length, it will be difficult to ensure the hair colour is spreaded evenly. Suggest to seek for help from friend or relative
3) Wear a shirt that you no longer wanted to keep. In case it is stained, you can just throw is away as the stain might not be washable.
4) While waiting for the colour to penetrate to the hair , wear a disposable shower cap to prevent unwanted stain anywhere.

I have dyed it a multitude of colours, from actual dye to bingo dabbers to koolaid. I have had just about every colour until the sun. Most colours were cool, but I am naturally a red head (with very pale skin) and I dyed it black with a wash in/wash out dye. Bad idea. I was about 15 with no job, so when it start to grow out I looked like the living dead, but with red roots. when I finally had enough money to get it professionally fixed, everyone in my high school knew who I was, and I ended up seriously messing my hair up. My hairdresser ended up using too strong of bleach, and my hair felt like straw for a year.

No, so far I've never had my hair dyed. I'm letting it go gray naturally. So far, it still looks fine. My mother's hair is now white, but was such a beautiful salt and pepper when it was graying that other customers would ask the beautician to make their hair look like my mother's...the beautician couldn't do it since it was natural! Hopefully, I'll be that lucky also.

I always dye my own hair. I have jumped around using different colors through my high school years. Such as reds, blonde, black, blue, green, purple, etc. Reds always turned out great and so did black. Blonde, blue, and green was absolutely awful because it didn't match me at all.
I've since settled on black. I personally like Feria by Loreal in Starry Night. It actually makes my hair softer after I use it.

I've been dyeing my hair myself for 20 years. As long as you stay within a few shades of your natural hair color, do a test patch. (I use hair from my hair brush for that), follow the directions, and don't fall asleep with it on your head, you'll be fine.
I fell asleep with it on my head for 2 hours once. I was using auburn dye, on medium brown hair, and when I woke up my hair was this lovely NON HAIR shade of plum. I was not thrilled.

of course i did. my hair was originally black. but when i saw a lot of Asians have brown hair, i wanna do the same. So i bought a pack of brown dye from a supermaket. i read the instruction carefully.

But a few weeks later, my hair was starting to itch and some people complain about my hair, so dyed my hair back to black.

What a bad week!
