Rough Ideas.
To slit thy wrists,
To hang by ropes,
To swallow thy pills,
To blemish all hopes.
A tear from an eye,
A pain in thy back,
A stab to the heart,
A world that’s in black.
The coffins gone down,
The spirit has lifted,
The gun has gone silent,
The stomach has twisted.
A family in mourning,
An answer not there,
A goodbye not said,
A death is unfair.

I wrote this poem after my husband died:
You placed me on a pedestal
Where I had no right to be.
You made me laugh, you made me cry,
You set my spirit free.
But love flies on winged feet,
Its time is ever fleeting.
When death calls to claim its prize,
One cannot avoid the meeting.
There is no one to dry the tears
When love has gone.
There is no one to allay my fears
When love has gone.
There is a grief so very deep
It gnaws at my very soul.
Death divides the living
And I'm no longer whole.
There is no one to dry the tears
When love has gone.
There is no one to allay my fears
When love has gone. (copyrighted - 1995)
