Sure can , some more then others. Took me years before I understood that I was sensitive with certain people. One look in my sister's eyes or even on the phone, I could always tell when something was wrong, even when she tried to hide it from me. She kept asking how I always knew.
Giving birth to my daughter, I shared a room with a lady who had complications and was rightly depressed, they put her in a private room and an other new mom took her place. Only then I realized that I too felt sad with the 1st lady, once she was gone it was like a very heavy load was lifted.

This seems like the plot of a terrible Bollywood movie;p Chin up! There's plenty of fish in the sea.... Plus, respecting your parents' wishes result in a blessed life in the future! I promise!! Despite your true love for the girl, your life's destiny may be with this new chick and who knows? You might forget her in no time!! And if you want it to be beyond "the world", make it that way! Don't worry, dude<3 Be proud of your heritage and realize that there's always a way when you have the will:)) God Bless!!

Yes it is possible to recognize, perceive and feel directly the emotion of another. As the states of mind, beliefs, and desires of others are intertwined with their emotions, one with empathy for another may often be able to more effectively define another's mode of thought and mood. Empathy is often characterized as the ability to "put oneself into another's shoes", or experiencing the outlook or emotions of another being within oneself, a sort of emotional resonance!!!

yup!
I personally experienced it. Its not anyone close to me, in fact, it was a stranger..
Think it was bout 10 years back, I was seated in a heavily packed public bus when that mid aged lady with her grocery bags got into the bus... she was doing ok untill at one point of time she couldnt manage her bags n almost fell...& as she was trying her best to hold them all together, she looked at me straight in the eyes & I just automatically stood up & offered her my seat...
At that point of time, I just felt her emotion searing right through my mind that she's asking for my sympathy and a little offer of help!! which i did just that...
I just felt her emotion by her eyes!!

I think it happens all the time, we just have to reach out more often!

Yes, especially if in certain situations you can relate to that person or share similarities.
For example, Mothers can feel genuine sympathy for other Mothers with sick children.
