I got a 87 Supra,. Well as soon as I turn off the car it started to leak coolant from the radiator cap. I dont think it leaks during driving but only when I turn off the car. I changed the thermostat just cuz its starting overhearting and the engine coolant bottle was all the way filled, and was ok after. So now i have this problem. Help me on what it can be, thank you.

When you turn your car off it will get hotter than when yuo are driving it because there is no air circulation and the fan is off. If it is coming from cap when it builds up pressure from the heat. I would say it's the seal on the cap. Change the cap first.

Check:
That u have a good radiator car & the correct 1 for that car (if anyone has owned the car before, they sometimes replace parts by "eyeballing' them. This can get u into LOTS of trouble, as they may LOOK the same, but act different than what the car needs!
Ck that the radiator itself isn't plugged/gunked up (a rotting hose/1 thas ols can do this by falling apart from the inside out, so u may not notice it!).

Flush the engine/radiator.

Cooolant recovery bottles arent supposed to be 'al the wat full 9there's a level marked on the side/ck it!

Mak e sure u habve the correct combo of water/coolant
check the hose from the rad to the coolant tank make sure its not plugged, or collapsing (others too!)

Finally: make sure the engine itself is running ok, & nothing is causing it to be hot (like with worn out oil, or bad plugs, rich mixture, etc) all bu itself!

Most cars blow coolant into the overflow tank when you turn them off. If it was leaking around the cap and not going out the overflow spout, it's just a leaky cap.

I will tell you what is NOT a problem, your fans. If the car won't stay cool while moving, when fans are not used, it's obviously not a fan problem. Does it overheat if the vehicle just sits, or ONLY when moving? If it's not all the time, it's likely not your thermostat either, as if it's sticking, it should either be consistent, or random, but not ONLY when the vehicle is moving.
