there are many mysteries surrounding the mona lise or jaconde, mostly due to the fact that her identity is not known.
some have speculated due to the resemblence of a self portrait that it is actualy leonardo da vinci himself as a woman a theory fuelled by the fact that he was bi-sexual or gay. however new technology which scanned the painting has showed a layering of detail in her clothes (there is huge detail in the painting that has sadly benn worn by time) which is consistant of the dress of a womwn that has already given birth. so assuming that leo never gave birth any children we can defo say its not him! :) ...or he may have had a sense of humour! either way the only people wgo can actually know is leo and mona!

For the Renaissance man, Mona Lisa wasn't a bad looking woman. Real nice smile too.

It is a known fact that Leonardo was gay. That is the reason why some have speculated that Monnalisa may be a man, but not many believe it.

There is some speculation that this was an attempt at a self-portrait by Leonardo.
