I'm 26 and don't have any insurance. My entire life I've always had a yellow/green discharge (since i was around 10 probably) and dealt with it until beginning of this year when I realized something wasn't right. Having it from childhood it was "normal" to me until I got tired of dealing with it ruining my underwear! So I went to the clinic to get help. The 3 stupid gynos they have there (all women) have all told me different things and given me pretty much the same medications over and over again. 1) The first said it was Trichomoniasis and gave me Metronidazole (2 times a day 7 days) as well as Diflucan (1 pill) in case there was any yeast at all. Took them both and still had a thick white discharge and pastey odor, just wasn't yellow anymore. 2) Second visit they said maybe it wasn't enough, so gave me Metronidazole for another 7 days. 3) Third visit, gave it to me yet again (Metronidazole) only this time 4 pills to take at one time. 4) Fourth visit, the lady said I had a very very

bad yeast infection (said I could put Hostess out of business!), and gave me Terazol to insert for 7 nights. By this time not only was I still having this white discharge but now the pressure on my bladder and frequent urination was starting to act up...I was putting off finding out what it was as the discharge was more urgent but now the constant pressure and constant urinating was driving me nuts. I told them about it and they put me on the same Metro again in case the Trich hadnt totally gone as well as another med for yeast infection in case that's what it was.

Unfortunately during this past month I was drugged and assaulted sexually and only remember about 10 seconds of the incident but remember being in severe pain regarding my bladder even tho I hadn't been sexually active before the incident in years. So now I knew another symptom of the problem. Luckily I hadn't been having sex so I didn't know it was as bad as it is. Tired of everything, I decided to go to a urologist and pay the money. He prescribed Doxycycline twice a day for about 3 weeks...it hasn't changed anything at all so makes me think it's not a UTI at all. I took an at home UTI test that says I don't have a UTI and I took an at home yeast infection test that says it's either Trich or Bacterial Vaginitis (what I already knew from the clinic...just which is it??). Can anyone help???

Problem: I don't know whether to go back to the urologist or to find a gynocologist to go to? I have no idea what it is but I need it fixed like now! I'm in such pain and aggravated.

lots of urination and pressure sounds like a UTI. Tell them the symptoms and have them run a urine test. You would need a differnent antibiotic for that one. I'm not sure what kind of bug you have going on--- could be that you had yeast and trich and BV at them same time- that being said, I would suggest taking some acidophilus capsules three times a day. You get them at Walgreen or Walmart- any drugstore really. They are a probiotic that is needed in the GI and GU tract for healthy bacterial balance. Give it a try for a month....you may be surprised. I had issues with BV and yeast for almost a year, and kept going back and forth with medications and tests....it was horrible, and nothing was helping. Withing days of taking the acidophilus all my symtoms were gone. It was something the doctors couldn't fix in almost a year with all the fancy drugs....... and all it took was this silly capsule. It's rather cheap in price too- which is a plus.

I think if you hv pain during urination you hv UTI and yeast/fungal infection. I had a similar problem like you 2 years ago, the doctor gave me antibiotics for few months. But it's cured by another doctor now.
Now whenever I'm sick (fever or flu) I feel very uncomfortable down there (itchiness). It's the result of over consuming of antibiotics. I can't take any antibiotics now, as my body is sensitive to it.

U have to see another gynae, ask your friends to recommend a good one. For UTI, If the doctor give u the right med, one or two dose will do the work.

UTI and Yeast/fungal infection are related, because these two organs : bladder and uterus is near to each other.
If you are sexually active, your partner have to take the meds too, if not he will reinfect you without knowing it (tHOUGH IT'S NOT HIS FAULT)

My problem was solved once my hubby agreed to take the meds together with me. the Yeast infection was dragged for more than 2 years!! I suffered that long....it was fine and then itchiness suddenly.... mentally torturing.

Pls see a gynae fast, as untreated UTI/yeast infection may lead to kidney problems and infertility.

I would try the urologist and ask them about the possibility of a condition called Interstitial Cystitis which can cause symptoms of pain and pressure making it feel like it's a UTI when it isn't. Then ask him about the name of a gynecologist that can check to see if you have bacterial vaginosis going on as well. I have had experience with having both a bacterial and a fungal infection going on at the same time before and it was quite uncomfortable.

Dear tiny knickers,
It may be difficult to cure your condition quickly because it has been there for about 16 years. Nevertheless, it is not hopeless because there are many treatments available. We may have to try them one by one till you are fully cured.

First we will try the following treatment
1.- Clindamycin (Cleocin, Clinda-Derm, C/T/S)
- 300mg tablet orally twice daily for 7 days.
2.- Clotrimazole (Gyne-Lotrimin, Mycelex 7, Mycelex G)
- 500mg tablet: Insert 1 tablet intravaginally once.

Please let me know the result. You can contact me at nidancal12@yahoo.co.in

Dear tiny knickers,
In addition to what I have advised to take for your problem, please take also the following for your pain
3.- Mefenamic acid (Ponstel)
- 500mg orally initially followed by 250mg 4 times daily after food.
Please let me know the result. You can contact me at nidancal12@yahoo.co.in
