ford ranger does not have a chip in the key if its stick shift you need to have your foot on the clutch to start its not a good idea to have a remote starter to much of a pain

The12volt.com has info and tips on remote start installs as well as forums for problems. Maybe contact the remote start unit's tech support center for advice also.
