Insomnia sucks people lol. Anyway I just caught a glimpse of a program on the History International Channel about the Roanoke(sp) colony. You know, the 100 or so colonist that came over from Europe in the 1500 or 1600s and just completly disappeared and all they found later was the word "Roanoke" carved in a tree.

Anyway, my question is which movie explained what happened to them? Obviously the explanation is not real because it's a sci-fi movie. I just remember the movie is set in the present and there is a monster that looks like a man attacking people. Then towards the end, they show Roanoke carved in the tree and the monster claims it was there back then and that colonist disappearance was because of him.

Croatoan is the word that was found on the tree at Roanoke Island.

Storm of the Century is probably what you're looking for. It stars Colm Feore as the "monster in man form" and he is looking for a child to take his place because his time is almost up. Tim Daly and Debrah Farentino play the parents of the child he chooses.

Stephen King wrote it and it is a great thriller movie.
