Dark and White Patches on CRT?

Question

I accidently met a magnet with my CRT
At the time it showed rainbow like colors

Now there is a dark and white patch around that area

How could I recover this.....?
will I have to go to vendor for warranty....?

You have messed up the static magnetic field of the CRT. There is a degauss circuit in all CRTs that helps fix problems like this. It is activated every time you turn the monitor on and usually from the OSD menu too.

Trying repeated degaussing may improve it, it may not. It depends on how powerful a magnet it was. Always wait 20 minutes between degauss cycles for the circuit to reset fully.

If you can't clear it with the inbuilt degauss, then take the monitor to a TV repair shop where they will have a much more powerful degauss wand or ring. It will take them 30 seconds to clear the problem for you.

dont ever do that, CRT's function with magnets, it ruins em. you can (A) buy a new monitor or (B) look into the monitor menu and llook for a Deguass function and use it several times. turn the monitor on and off several times.
